Privacy Policy (Docluno)
Effective date: January 29, 2026
Docluno is a Lightball Labs production. This Privacy Policy explains what information Docluno processes and why.
1) Summary
Docluno is designed to keep things simple and privacy-friendly.
- Your documents and generated study content are stored locally on your device.
- If you use OCR (scan, photo, or PDF text extraction), the selected file is uploaded to our OCR endpoint so we can extract text and return it to you.
- We do not require an account to use the app.
2) Who is responsible for the data
Controller: Lightball Labs
Contact: hello@lightballlabs.com
3) What information we process
A) Content you create in the app (stored on your device)
Docluno can store the following locally on your device:
- Documents you save (such as title and text)
- Generated study content (such as quiz questions, flashcards, and summaries) tied to a document
- App settings (for example language choice)
This is stored to make the app work properly, including offline use.
B) OCR uploads (only when you choose to use OCR)
If you scan with the camera or import an image/PDF and run OCR:
- The selected file (image or PDF) is uploaded to our OCR endpoint
- The service returns extracted text, which is then shown inside the app
We process OCR uploads only to provide the feature you requested.
Where OCR runs:
Our OCR endpoint is hosted on Google Cloud infrastructure (region europe-north1, Finland).
4) Permissions
Docluno may request:
- Camera access (for scanning)
- Photo library access (if you choose images)
- File/document access (if you import PDFs)
You can choose not to grant these permissions and instead paste text manually where applicable.
5) Sharing and third parties
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share limited data only when needed to provide the app’s features, for example:
- OCR processing provider: the OCR endpoint and hosting infrastructure used to extract text from your file
- Platform providers: Apple, Google, and your device operating system for app distribution and core platform functionality
- Crash reporting provider: if enabled in the app, we may use Sentry to collect technical diagnostics such as device type, OS version, app version, and error logs to help us detect and fix crashes and stability issues.
6) Legal basis (GDPR/EEA)
If you are in the EEA or UK, we rely on:
- Performance of a contract (to provide the app features you request), and
- Consent / your request for optional processing such as OCR uploads (you initiate the upload)
7) Data retention
- Local documents remain on your device until you delete them in the app or uninstall the app
- OCR files are processed to extract text and are not stored after processing is completed
8) Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
- Access, correct, or delete your information
- Object to processing or request restriction
- Request portability
- File a complaint with your local data protection authority
Because Docluno does not require an account, we may not always be able to identify you unless you contact support and provide enough detail.
9) Children
Docluno is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, please contact us and we will address it.
10) Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the effective date at the top when we do.
